Some vehicle manufacturers prevent the use of data storage devices via the OBD II connection. Before use, ask the vehicle manufacturer if data storage devices may be used with that vehicle.
Switch off ignition and all consumers on the vehicle. Connect the cigarette lighter plug to the 12V power source – yellow CONNECTED LED Step 1 illuminates. Connect OBD II plug to vehicle – yellow CONNECTED LED Step 2 illuminates. When the green LED PROCEED illuminates, you can disconnect the vehicle battery. If the red LED DO NOT PROCEED illuminates, disconnect the OBD-L from the power source and either check the internal fuse or consult a qualified service technician.
